Each furoshiki is made-to-order by Cozo Cazama, one of the few remaining masters of the traditional Japanese art of aizome (Japanese hand-dyed indigo). The faint, earthy smell testifies to the high quality of fermented indigo dye—rich in antibacterial, skin soothing properties—that has been prized by Japanese samurai and cultures around the world for centuries. Best-seller: The Elegant Yūgen Bed Throw

Japanese artists often express Yūgen through profound, elegant simplicity: natural, living ingredients are gently, respectfully guided to create spacious, *imperfect* Wabi Sabi, with each piece born representing the mystery and interconnection of life and its cycles of creation and decay.

Traditional aizome (Japanese hand-dyed indigo) is exactly this. It takes a dedicated craftsman a year to nurture one batch of Indigo dye from seed to bubbling, fermented sukumo, a living dye rich with antibacterial properties. The faint, earthy smell testifies to the high quality of fermented indigo dye—rich in antibacterial, skin soothing properties—that has been prized by Japanese samurai and cultures around the world for centuries.

We partnered with one of the last living traditional indigo dyers in Japan, Cozo Cazama, to offer 18 one-of-a-kind, beautiful, indigo-dyed bed throws. As you wrap yourself in this luxurious, handcrafted indigo bed throw, you are embraced by the sun, resources, and rain that nourished the indigo and cotton plants, and the love, tradition, and dedication that transformed them.
